This course will focus on the students understanding of the elements and principles of design using digital media. Students will be exposed to the use of visual, graphic and animation design through the use of the exciting mediums of computer imagery and multi-media. Students will work in teams collaboratively in order to discover the various practical applications of digital media design.
Studio for non-majors will provide students with a beginning understanding of the elements and principles of design, and techniques used by artists in three separate mediums. Focus will be placed on teaching skill building for school of education students building self confidence with the use of three different media, increasing general knowledge of the varied range of art forms, contributing to a well rounded education. In addition the student will gain an appreciation and understanding of the arts, practice in creative problem solving, and the development of a leisure activity for personal satisfaction.
This course will provide the student with a beginning understanding of different drawing media, tools, techniques, and styles through experience. The class is designed as an overview of drawing techniques and styles rather than an in-depth study of one method. The student will further learn how to look at and evaluate art work and how to mat and display finished art work.

The student will further learn through hands-on studio experience various uses of the elements and principles of design in varying media. In addition the student will gain an appreciation and understanding of the arts, practice in creative problem solving, and the development of a leisure activity for personal satisfaction.
