The intent of this course is to introduce Students to the Fundamental Aspects of Human Health issues,topics will include but are not limited to wellness and lifestyle management, basic principles of physical fitness, nutrition, weight management, stress management, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and abuse, chronic diseases and aging. This course will provide information and practical suggestions to assist one to make healthful changes to their current lifestyle and how to maintain those changes into the future.
This course is intended to introduce the students to the scientific principles of food and the basic elements of nutrition with the emphasis on food sources and the functions of nutrients for good health. It will provide knowledge of applied nutrition and the study of nutritional problems common in health. Students will be exposed to healthy food choices, diet planning, fitness, nutrients, body composition as well as different nutritional concerns through the years.
